Bio: Roger Varian is a horse trainer  based at Carlburg Stables in Newmarket, Suffolk.  His carrer in racing started in the US though at Hollywood Park. He returned to the UK in the capacity of a national hunt jockey, but subsequently went back to the US, this time to Maryland.  A fall causing a wrist injury resulted in the end to his jockeying career, but a more successful one was awaiting him in horse trainer.

As assistant trainer to Michael Jarvis and having experienced some success, to eventually was lucky enough to take over the yard following Jarvis’ retirement.. The following season saw huge strides made, and big wins such as Nahrain in the Prix de l’Opera and the Flower Bowl Invitational Stakes. The following year saw Princess Noor win the Autumn Stakes and the Racing Post Trophy. 2014 gave Varian his first British Classic win with Kingston Hill in the St Leger. Postponed shone is 2016 with International Stakes and Coronation Cup wins.
