Bio: Archie Watson is a horse trainer

Watson’s interest in horse racing can be traced back to a very young age. He began riding out at the yard of Charlie Morlockas soon as he could, followed by periods with Alan King and Paul Webber, and Graham Motion in the US. This all helps build a strong foundation and insight into training.

Following another US spell, this time with Simon Callaghan, Watson returned to the UK with a point to prove. The opportunity to assist William Haggas in Somerville Lodge, Newmarket arose, and Watson didn’t hesitate. This opportunity allowed him to train, and win, for the Queen, Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum and others. Mukhadram winning the Group 1 Coral Eclipse and other magical moments followed before he moved back to Saxon Gate in Berkshire with a wealth of knowledge and experience, four years later.

Archive is currently one of the leading flat race trainers in the country, which should be no surprise considering he’s worked with a who’s who of the training world.
