Bio: West Yorkshire born, Martin Keighley has been interested in racing from a young age, and being gifted the opportunity of rides under David Nicholson, this solidified his love for the sport. The opportunity to work with Barton Bank and other top horses proved to be a valuable education.  Keighley then decided to ride for Nigel Twiston-Davies winning the Champion Bumper at Aintree on Kings Road.

Moving from jockey to trainer on account of injury and not getting the rides, seemed like a natural shift and after a time at Cheltenham Racecourse, Martin and Belinda launched Condicote Stables a decade ago. Since that time they’ve had no shortage of success. His first Grade One winner came in late 2013 when 12-1 Annacotty won Kempton’s Kauto Star (Feltham) Novice Chase, he’s also experienced royal and Cheltenham Festival successes over the years.

With his family background not being linked to racing (his father was a fireman and mother a hairdresser), there is an everyman quality to Keighley and their stable, the feeling that they made it on their own. It’s hard not to root for  someone like Keighley.
