Bio: Andrew Balding certainly had a leg up in racing, since his Father was none other than Ian Balding, trainer of the legendary Mill Reef (winner of the Derby, Coral-Eclipse, King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe all in one year). If that’s not enough his nephew is Toby Balding. Racing success runs through this family.

After taking over the licence at Park House stables at Kingsclere, near Newbury, Berkshire, it wasn’t long before Andrew was successful in his own right with a memorable Oaks win by Casual Look. Since that time many of his most noteable wins have come from abroad with Phoenix Reach winning the Canadian International at Woodbine, Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin and the Dubai Sheema Classic at Nad Al Sheba in a three year period. This trend continued with Side Glance winning the Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington, Australia in 2013.

More recently, Balding has enjoyed some of the most successful seasons of his career. He has consistently posted high winner totals both domestically and internationally, while adding major Group 1 successes to his résumé. The likes of Kameko, who won the 2,000 Guineas, and Alcohol Free, a multiple Group 1-winning filly, have underlined the depth of his Kingsclere operation. By the mid-2020s he has become a regular challenger in the British trainers’ championship, with Park House Stables continuing to produce elite performers across all distances and age groups.
